Masterson’s Pub , situated in the center of Moonee Ponds , markets itself as a trendy “hipster” hangout , but my recent visit at this establishment became a nightmarish ordeal . While the bar may look welcoming at first glance , what I found behind its doors was appalling and beyond comprehension .
The State of the Venue : Filthy and Neglected
From the moment I entered , it was evident that hygiene was not a priority at this venue. The floors were sticky , and a foul smell of old alcohol and neglected washrooms filled the entire bar . Emitting a scent of a mixture of urine , old age and sour vomit . The counter , which should be the focal point of any pub, was cluttered with dirty glasses and refuse that looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in weeks . It wasn’t just a one-off bad night either. His presence at the bar often seemed closer to that of a lurking threat than a friendly owner .

Pete’s wife, Gillian McKenzie , is a co-owner and frequently seen overseeing the bar . Instead of stepping in to curb the damage done by her husband’s actions, she seems to accept his behavior.
